Where To Dispose Of Expired, Unused Drugs In Orange County

On Oct. 26, several locations are offering free, no-questions-asked service for safely disposing of medications at locations across SoCal.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Do you have unused or expired prescription medications taking up space in your cabinets? Here's where you can safely dispose of them this month.

As part of the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 26, Kaiser Permanente Southern California is partnering with law enforcement to open up a dozen locations across the Southland for people to drop off unwanted medications.

The service is free and no questions will be asked.

It's important to get rid of old medications since they are the leading cause of accidental poisoning in households. Unused or expired medication thrown out in the trash or flushed can also pollute the environment.

All prescription medications will be accepted but no needles or sharp objects can be dropped off.

The DEA is also opening up dozens of free drop-off locations on the same day. Search for a collection site here by entering your zip code.

Medications can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the locations listed below:

  • Anaheim Medical Center, Kraemer Medical Offices, 3460 East La Palma Avenue, Building 1 (at the patient drop-off area in front)
  • Mission Viejo City Hall, Civic Center, Mission Viejo
  • Rancho Santa Margarita City Hall, 22112 El Paseo
  • San Clemente City Hall, 910 Calle Negocio
  • Laguna Niguel City Hall, 30111 Crown Valley Pkwy
  • Fullerton Police Department, 237 W Commonwealth Ave.
  • Ladera Ranch Middle School, 29551 Sienna Pkwy
