Which Road in Mission Viejo Needs a Speed Bump?

We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

MISSION VIEJO, CA - Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.

While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Mission Viejo. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

  • "Tarazona"
  • "Target way! Not really a road, I know, but people speed through it and don't pay attention to pedestrians. (Target on the hill - Jeronimo/Los Alisos)
  • "Via San Gabriel is a race track leading up to OPA. We have petitioned the city twice to help with the speeding cars!"
  • "Troy Street to Minoa"
  • "Fieldcrest near Pacific Hills Park."
  • "Napoli Way near Bathgate."
  • "All of them!"
  • "Juaneno Drive. It's three blocks long, people speed through, no stop sign and kids always play in the street."
  • "Via Burgos off Alicia. The cars speed up and down the hill."
  • "Chrisanta Drive! Mission Viejo high school kids drive like crazy not obeying stop signs, speed limit or red signal lights since there are no cameras. There are speed bumps on Cortina, Pradera and Estanciero connecting streets which are smaller streets, but why not on Chrisanta? It's very dangerous for the younger kids to walk home from nearby elementary and middle schools."
