MONROVIA, CA — The California Highway Patrol canceled a Silver Alert Friday morning after a 73-year-old Monrovia woman who failed to return home from a Thanksgiving visit with relatives was located.

Verna Elizabeth Roth was previously last seen about 4:45 p.m. Thursday in Hemet and did not return home as planned, Monrovia police Sgt. W. Burkhalter told City News Service.

A Silver Alert is activated by the CHP when an elderly, developmentally, or cognitively-impaired person has gone missing and is determined to be at-risk to provide immediate information to the public to aid in the swift recovery of at-risk persons meeting the criteria.
