Monrovia Supports Effort to Set Ontario Airport 'Free'

Mayor Mary Ann Lutz has lent her support to a campaign to free Ontario Airport from the control of the city of Los Angeles.

Why is the Ontario Airport still operated by the city of Los Angeles?

That's the question posed by the "Set ONTario Free" campaign, a bid to wrest control of the airport from LA and give it back to the municipality in which it sits.

"Los Angeles is the only city in the United States that operates an airport outside of its jurisdiction and ONT continues to be the only airport in the region that is not under local control," according to an article reprinted on PublicCEO.com. "Ontario Airport is located almost 60 miles away from LAX in San Bernardino County and is therefore not a priority for most Los Angeles City officials as reflected in the continued decline of Ontario Airport."
