Overnight Outage Knocked Out Power for 7,535 Local Customers

More than 7,500 Monrovia and Arcadia customers lost power Monday night when an unknown object struck equipment, causing an outage that lasted over an hour, a Southern California Edison spokesman said.

The outage happened at 11:06 p.m. in parts of Monrovia and Arcadia, Edison spokesman Darryl Ryan said.

"There was a still-unknown object that made contact with a piece of equipment that caused a flashover which essentially just knocked out power," Ryan said.

The boundaries of the outage were Cloverleaf Drive to the north, Ivy Avenue to the east, East Camino Real to the south, and Glencoe Drive to the west, Ryan said.

Power was restored to the affected areas one hour and 16 minutes later, he said.
