Shampoo Bandits Steal $11,000 in Hair Products from Monrovia Salon

The burglars struck Thursday morning and filled up trashcans full of shampoo, conditioner, hair gel and other products.

A group of burglars broke into a Monrovia hair salon Thursday morning and stole thousands of dollars worth of shampoo, conditioner and other hair products, the owner of the salon said.

Shirley Huefner, owner of on the 900 block of West Foothill Boulevard, said the bandits broke in through the rear door of the store and cleaned out her inventory. She estimated the retail value of the products at about $11,000.

"They came in and pretty much wiped out all my retail that I have for sale," Huefner said. "It looks like they took about four of my trash cans, filled them up with product and walked out.

A neighboring business' security cameras may have caught some of the burglars on tape and police are reviewing the footage, Huefner said.

Monrovia Police Lt. Zeke Cerecerez said police were notified of the burglary at 7:26 a.m. Thursday. The investigating officer had not completed a report as of Saturday morning, he said.
