Video: Explosion Blew Off Manhole Cover on Chestnut, Edison Says

A spokesman for Southern California Edison said an underground component failed and caused an explosion that blew a manhole cover off and buckled the street.

Southern California Edison region manager Ahmad Solomon told Patch Thursday that an underground 600-amp connecting plug failed and caused an explosion that blew off a manhole cover off Chestnut Avenue and tore a hole into the street.
