CHOMP nurses push to unionize, citing staffing and patient care concerns (ksbw.com) — Nurses at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula in Monterey are pushing to unionize, saying short staffing is hurting patient care and leaving them without required breaks. They’ve filed for a union election and accuse hospital-hired consultants of union busting, while Montage Health leaders say they value staff and are disappointed by the union effort.
   

2. Monterey County cold case project funds new testing in over a dozen cases (ksbw.com) — A new nonprofit Cold Case Project is pouring donor money into advanced forensic testing for 13 unsolved homicide cases in Monterey County, with many more still waiting for help. By covering costly DNA work that local agencies can’t easily fund, organizers hope to reignite hundreds of stalled investigations and bring long-awaited answers to families across the county.
   

3. Community Seafood Program Helps Feed The Hungry In Monterey (kqed.org) — A local seafood-to-food-bank pipeline is helping thousands of Monterey County residents who can’t consistently afford healthy food, with meals ultimately served at Window on the Bay Park near Monterey’s Municipal Wharf. The Monterey Bay Fisheries Trust buys catch from local boats, Sea Harvest delivers it, and Al & Friends turns it into weekly restaurant-quality meals for growing crowds of food-insecure neighbors.
   

4. Why Pebble Beach Is One Of The Best Golf Courses In America (stadiumrant.com) — Pebble Beach, just up the Monterey coastline, is highlighted for its dramatic oceanfront holes and century-old design that helped make it one of America’s most celebrated golf courses.
