Juvenile Reportedly Arrested for Arson, Burglary at Mesa Verde Middle School

A juvenile was taken into custody Wednesday in connection with starting a fire and attempted burglary at Mesa Verde Middle School Wednesday morning, according to an official report.

Authorities responded to an alarm call at 12:55 a.m. at the school, located in the 14000 block of Peach Hill Road, according to the report.

Upon arriving at the school, deputies noticed evidence of a break-in and a small fire. A male youth was spotted exiting the building and detained for questioning, the report said.

The 17-year old male was found with fire starting materials and burglary tools in his possession, the report said.

Following a complete investigation by Ventura County fire personnel, the school was ensured safe.

Investigator determined the juvenile was responsible for breaking into the school and for starting the fire.  He was transported to Juvenile Hall where he was booked for Burglary and Arson.
