• Building relationships one cup at a time (mpacorn.com) — Moorpark residents are invited to meet local deputies over coffee on Dec. 23 at the Starbucks inside Target on Los Angeles Avenue. The informal “Coffee with a Cop” event lets you ask questions, raise neighborhood concerns, and learn about programs like Volunteers in Policing, the Explorer program, and fraud prevention, with Spanish-speaking deputies available to help.

• Water rates going up 10% in District 1 to cover rising supply costs (mpacorn.com) — Moorpark water customers in Waterworks District No. 1 will see a 10% increase in water rates and service charges starting Jan. 1 to cover rising supply and infrastructure costs. Supervisors acknowledged the strain on fixed-income residents while also pursuing $19 million in state grants for Moorpark and Somis projects like well rehab, a new treatment plant, and added storage.
   

• Council urges more engaging, interactive library art (mpacorn.com) — Moorpark’s City Council wants a more immersive, inclusive apricot-themed art installation before approving the children’s area design for the new library, and also OK’d inclusive playground equipment for Tierra Rejada Park. Council members additionally approved a small minimum wage increase for hourly city workers and selected Antonio Castro as mayor pro tem for 2026, underscoring ongoing investments in local amenities and staff.
