Moorpark High School will be performing Cole Porter's Kiss Me Kate this weekend.
Probably the only Broadway hit to include both Shakespeare and gangsters, Kiss Me Kate is a musical play within a play. Originally produced in 1948 and revived in 1999, the play opens at a rehearsal of a musical version of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew with the director giving instructions to the cast, but much of the drama is over what's happening in their off-stage lives.
The performance will be staged at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday in the performing art center at the school, 4500 Tierra Rejada Road.
