• Minimum wage in the New Year will push $17 (mpacorn.com) — Moorpark city employees earning minimum and hourly wages will see pay bumps starting with the first full pay period after Jan. 1, as the City Council approved raising the city minimum wage to $16.90 and boosting hard‑to‑fill positions. The move aims to keep Moorpark competitive, strengthen applicant pools, and maintain reliable city services ranging from parks and recreation to crossing guards and preschool programs.
   

• Piechowski issues apology regarding email request (simivalleyacorn.com) — A Ventura County Community College District trustee representing Moorpark and Simi Valley apologized after ordering staff to search employee emails for political terms, a move critics said threatened accreditation and academic freedom. The tense board meeting also highlighted disputes over a proposed Title IX resolution and calls, including from Moorpark College’s Academic Senate president, to keep partisan agendas out of district business.
