Weather Service Says High Heat to Return

The National Weather Service is predicting temperatures high enough to move it to issue an hazardous weather outlook.

Today's high in Moorpark will be about 91 degrees, rising to 95 Sunday and then up to 100 degrees Monday and Tuesday before dropping down to 89 on Wednesday. By Thursday, temperatures should be down to 83 degrees and a sunny 81 on Friday, according to the NWS.

An upper level high pressure system will build across the state Sunday through Thursday, which, combined with an offshore surface flow, will bring hot and dry conditions to much of Southwest California.

The service has issued a reminder that precautions should be taken, especially by older adults, caretakers of infants and children, individuals who participate in outdoor activities and individuals who are sensitive to the heat.

Along with health risks will come increased fire danger, "peaking on Monday and Tuesday when record-breaking triple digit heat and widespread single digit humidities will combine with very dry fuels," the Weather Service reported.
