You Asked: What Are Moorpark's Rules Regarding Yard Sale Signs?

Every once in a while, a reader will send in a question whose answer might be useful to other members of the community as well, so we answer with a short article. Here's one!

On Friday, we received a question about the city's ordinances in regards to garage and yard sale signs.

A reader asked why some neighborhoods were allowed to have signs up for a large garage sale this weekend while others' signs have been removed by the city.

We contacted the city and heard from David Bobardt, community development director for the city of Moorpark.

Residents are allowed to post up to six signs, no larger than two by two feet in size, off the sale site, he said. The signs must be on private property and not in the public right of way, so they cannot be attached to utility poles, sidewalks or streets, for example.

As well, one sign fitting within the same dimension restriction, may be posted at the sale.
