11-Year-Old Boy Found After Weekend Disappearance From Menifee

A 49-year-old "noncustodial parent" disappeared with the child, police said.

MENIFEE, CA — An "endangered" child who was taken by a woman over the weekend in Menifee was found safe, authorities announced Monday.

Just before 10 a.m., the Menifee Police Department said, "The child and their mother have been located safely." There was no word on where they were found and no arrests were announced.

Before Monday's update, Noah Bernhardt, 11, was last seen in the area of Palomar Road and Craig Avenue, voluntarily entering a Gray Hyundai Veracruz SUV (California license plate 6BNW875) shortly after 8 p.m. The driver was a "noncustodial parent," 49-year-old Marie Bernhardt, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Menifee police described the boy as an "endangered missing juvenile."

"We believe they could be in the Claremont or Pomona areas," police said.

The woman was described as about 5' tall, weighing 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. The black-haired boy was last seen wearing black clothing and an orange jacket.
