19-Year-Old Murrieta Man Killed In I-15 Crash, Witnesses Sought
The crash was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m. Tuesday on northbound Interstate 15, south of Deer Springs Road.

ESCONDIDO, CA — A 19-year-old Murrieta man is dead following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 15.
According to a preliminary report from the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving north on Interstate 15 in a Chevrolet Silverado truck in unincorporated Escondido. With him was a 19-year-old woman.
At approximately 6:35 a.m., the pickup and a Ford F-150 truck collided south of Deer Springs Road.

"The Ford F-150 spun out and came to rest in the center divider, while the Chevrolet veered to the right shoulder where it overturned numerous times, coming to rest upon its wheels ...," the CHP reported.
The Murrieta man, whose identity was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene while his female passenger sustained major injuries and was sent to a nearby hospital. She is expected to survive.

A 24-year-old Descanso man behind the wheel of the Ford was not injured, according to the CHP.
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be crash factors, the agency said.
An investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing. The CHP is asking anyone who has information or may have witnessed the incident to contact the Oceanside Area CHP office at 760-643-3400.
