20-Year-Old Menifee Man Sustains Major Burns In Fiery Crash

"Investigators believe alcohol may have contributed to the collision, along with wet roadway conditions caused by the rain," police said.

MENIFEE, CA — A 20-year-old Menifee man sustained major burns over the weekend when he crashed, causing the vehicle he was driving to erupt in flames.

The fiery solo-vehicle wreck was reported at approximately 12:06 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of McCall Boulevard and Menifee Road.

Before police arrived at the scene, the driver — whose identity was not released — was pulled from the BMW sedan by crash witnesses who said the car was fully engulfed in fire, according to the Menifee Police Department.

The man was transported to a medical facility for treatment of his injuries, and as of 5 p.m. Sunday, he was in stable condition, the law enforcement agency said.

No other injuries were reported.

During a crash investigation, Menifee police determined the BMW was heading west on McCall Boulevard when it struck the center median, crossed over it, then hit a curb before smashing into a tree and bursting into flames.

"Investigators believe alcohol may have contributed to the collision, along with wet roadway conditions caused by the rain," Menifee police reported.
