Bicyclist Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver In Menifee, Hospitalized
A bicyclist was struck and seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver while riding along a Menifee street Thursday night.
MENIFEE, CA — A bicyclist was struck and seriously injured by a hit-and-run-driver while riding along a Menifee street, prompting authorities Friday to seek the public's help identifying the motorist.
Just before 7 p.m. Thursday, the collision occurred at the intersection of Menifee and Triple Crown roads, according to the Menifee Police Department.
Agency spokesman Chase Coburn said the bicyclist, identified only as a 48-year-old Menifee man," was riding northbound on Menifee Road, his back to traffic when a car steered toward the shoulder and "plowed into him."

"The driver failed to remain on scene and fled the area," Coburn said.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department medics arrived minutes later and found the victim with "serious but non-life-threatening injuries to his arms and a leg," a police spokesman said.

The bicyclist was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment.
"Investigators are actively attempting to identify and locate the vehicle involved," Coburn said. "It is believed to be a blue sedan and will have front-end collision damage."
