Witnesses were unable to obtain a license plate number of the car, which "may or may not have damage to the front end or hood," police said.

HEMET, CA — A Hemet boy was struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking to school Wednesday, and investigators asked for the public's help in identifying the motorist.

The youth, whose injuries were said to be non-life-threatening, was hit about 9 a.m. near the intersection of Acacia Avenue and San Jacinto Street, less than a block from the main entrance to Acacia Middle School, according to Hemet police.

Sgt. Dan Reinbolt said a woman behind the wheel of a light-colored sedan hit the boy just before making a turn to go west on Acacia from San Jacinto.
