Brush Fire Ignites Near I-215, March Air Reserve Base
Air traffic control alerted emergency officials that the field was in flames.

MORENO VALLEY, CA — A fire that broke out Wednesday on the perimeter of March Air Reserve Base in Moreno Valley scorched a spot of vegetation and approached the airfield tarmac before it was stopped.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday just off Van Buren Boulevard, east of Interstate 215, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that March ARB Fire Brigade personnel immediately deployed around the fire after receiving reports from the air traffic control tower that the field was in flames.

Several county fire engine crews reached the location minutes later and encountered flames moving slowly in the direction of the north end tarmac, according to reports from the scene. No structures were threatened.
The combined efforts of the March ARB brigade and county fire crews led to full containment of the blaze shortly before 11 a.m.
