Community Invited To Murrieta Police Department's 'National Night Out'
The free event hosted by the department takes place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 1 at Town Square Park in Murrieta.

MURRIETA, CA — The Murrieta Police Department invites the community to the upcoming 2023 National Night Out, which "promises an evening filled with engaging activities and interactive displays," according to the agency.
The free event hosted by the department takes place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 1 at Town Square Park in Murrieta.
"This family-centered event aims to elevate crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and forge even closer police-community relationships," according to a news release from the city. "National Night Out events take place throughout the country to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. It provides a great opportunity to bring law enforcement and community members together under positive circumstances."

During the Murrieta event, attendees of all ages can engage with the SWAT team and its equipment, the Traffic Team's specialized resources, the Murrieta Police and Fire Command Post, Murrieta Police Explorers and volunteers, Murrieta’s Code Enforcement team, police K9s, and public safety-related vendors.
National Night Out was started by the National Association of Town Watch in 1984 and is designed to bring members of the community together to be more effective in preventing crime. Annual National Night Out events across the nation work to facilitate partnerships that will increase social capital, reduce crime and strengthen communities.
