Deadly Incident Prompts Closure Off Cajalco Road

Sheriff's officials remained at the scene Thursday afternoon following the Wednesday night incident.

MEAD VALLEY, CA — Riverside County sheriff's officials were at the scene Thursday of a deadly incident in the Mead Valley area. The incident was first reported around 9:47 p.m. Wednesday as "a possible shooting" in the area of Marquez and Decker roads, near Cajalco Road, according to Dep. Robyn Flores.

"Deputies arrived and located a single, male victim who was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries," Flores told Patch via email. "The victim succumbed to his injuries."

Flores said authorities are not releasing more information at this time regarding the man's injuries.

As of 1 p.m. Thursday, the area remained blocked off to the public, including access to Decker Road at Cajalco. It was not immediately clear when the homicide investigation at the scene would wrap.

Anyone with information related to the incident was asked to call the Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit at 5-2777.
