MENIFEE, CA — A breached fuel tank on a big rig caused a sizable diesel spill on a Menifee street Friday, prompting a hazardous materials cleanup and partial road closure.

The agency said several engine crews and a hazmat unit were sent to the location and encountered 50 to 75 gallons of diesel from the stalled truck leaked onto the road and shoulder of northbound lanes.

It was unclear whether any of the petrol seeped into storm drains, and there was no word on how the saddle tank ruptured.

Crews immediately initiated a clean-up, requesting assistance from the Menifee Department of Public Works, according to reports from the scene.
