In 2007, we took a leap of faith and invested everything we had—our life savings, overseas funding, and countless hours of hard work—into purchasing and restoring the California Oaks Golf Course, a neglected property in a retired HOA community. We paid $2.2 million for the property and poured an additional $6 million into improvements, transforming it into a beautiful retreat with two creeks and seven lakes. Residents often told us the course had never looked better, and we took pride in creating a space that brought joy to the community.
But from the very beginning, we faced relentless hostility and sabotage. On the first day our grill opened, the pro shop was set on fire—a devastating act of vandalism that foreshadowed years of discrimination and harassment. Despite this, we persevered, working tirelessly to maintain and improve the property.
Over the past 17 years, we have endured:

- Boycotts and sanctions from the HOA discouraged residents from supporting our business.
- Malicious lawsuits that drained us of $2.5 million in legal fees.
- Operational losses totaling $7.5 million due to the HOA’s interference.
- Discrimination and hostility that made it impossible to thrive.
The HOA’s actions have not only depleted our life savings but have also clouded the title of the property, making it impossible for anyone else to bid on it in foreclosure. Not only the land-use restrictions and maintenance covenants imposed by the HOA, but also the condition of course ensure that they will be the only bidder, effectively stealing the property from us after 17 years of hard work and $16 million in investments.
We are now facing foreclosure, and the HOA is poised to take everything we’ve worked for. Even if we somehow manage to keep the property, the court has ruled that we must continue to operate it as a golf course under the HOA’s oppressive restrictions, making it financially impossible to recover.

This is not just our story—it’s a story of how HOAs can abuse their power to destroy lives and steal property. We are fighting back, not just for ourselves, but for everyone who has been a victim of HOA overreach and injustice. Please provide your support via our Petition
