Free Environmental Justice Class Offered By County Of Riverside
The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources will host the free virtual "Introduction to Environmental Justice" class on Aug. 5.

The following is an Aug. 1, 2023 news release from the County of Riverside:
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — How does the built environment impact Riverside County residents? Environmental justice is the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people, regardless of race, color, national origin, or income, with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. Fair treatment means that no population bears a disproportionate share of negative environmental consequences resulting from industrial, municipal, and commercial operations. Join us for an expanded view of the environment outside the scope of conservation with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations and policies.
At 9 am on Saturday, August 5, the Riverside County Department of Waste Resources will host a free virtual Introduction to Environmental Justice class that can be accessed on any computer, tablet, or smartphone. This hour-long virtual class is great way to learn more about environmental justice and how it affects our community.

The virtual class is free and will end by 10 am. Attendees do not have to register for the class. Just go to the class link: http://www.rcwaste.org/classes select the Introduction to Environmental Justice class tab and click on the Webex hyperlink for the live class on Saturday.
These programs are offered to educate residents about local environmental justice issues and how they can advocate for change. The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources offers a variety of FREE environmental education classes related to waste reduction and sustainability.

Class instructors provide attendees with professional learning and instructional materials that demonstrate environmental diversion themes such as composting, recycling, and green cleaning.
