Man Arrested For Homicide In Overdose Death: Murrieta Police

MURRIETA, CA — A 19-year-old Perris man was behind bars Saturday for allegedly selling drugs to a 22-year-old man who died as a result of a fentanyl overdose in Murrieta.

Miguel Angel Gonzalez was arrested Thursday after detectives from the Murrieta Police Department's Special Enforcement Team and General Investigations Detective Bureau served a search warrant at his Perris residence, police said.

Gonzalez was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of homicide on a bail amount of $1 million.

The identity of the 22-year-old victim was not released. Murrieta police said officers responded to the 35000 block of Mitchell Road on Feb. 20 at around 9:15 p.m. to a report of a possible drug overdose.

Murrieta Fire and Rescue along with police officers began life saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
