Man Gunned Down On Hemet Street

HEMET, CA — A man was shot Tuesday on a Hemet street, suffering a life-threatening wound, and the whereabouts of the shooter were not immediately clear.

The attack happened at about 12:20 a.m. in the 300 block of East Johnston Avenue, near South Buena Vista Street, according to the Hemet Police Department.

The agency said patrol officers were called to the location to investigate reports of shots fired and discovered the victim, whose identity was not disclosed, seriously wounded from a single gunshot.

The man was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment and was listed in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.

Police did not identify a potential suspect, nor provide any further details, including a possible motive and whether an active search was underway.
