MURRIETA, CA — A 63-year-old Murrieta daycare operator suspected of molesting a child in his care was behind bars Wednesday.

Marvin Alberto Ulloa was arrested and booked into the Byrd Detention Center Tuesday on suspicion of lewd acts with a minor and oral copulation of a child under 10 years old.

Ulloa was being held in lieu of $1 million bail for a court date that would be forthcoming. His case was under review Wednesday by the Riverside County District Attorney, and more information will be added once it is received from that office.

In early January, Murrieta Police Department investigators were contacted regarding possible molestation perpetrated by the suspect on a young girl in the care of the daycare facility.

The daycare in question was the Ulloa Family Daycare, which operated out of a Murrieta home in the 27700 block of Hackberry Street, near Clinton Keith Road, police said.

Detectives spent several weeks investigating the matter before gathering sufficient details to obtain and serve an arrest warrant on Ulloa Tuesday afternoon at the business.

The California Department of Social Services visited the licensed daycare facility unannounced on Aug. 6, according to that agency. At that time, no citations were issued for the facility, which cared for 13 children and could accommodate 14, with a staff of two people. At that time, social workers met with Ullola, according to a Licensing Program Analyst. This was an unannounced annual inspection as part of a compliance review. The analyst toured the facility inside and out, with owner Ullola and found the facility met compliance checks.

"Resident and/or staff records were reviewed, and all adults who require caregiver background checks have received all required clearances and/or exemptions," according to the report. "The licensee confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and/or using the facility address for their mailing addresses."

The analyst found nothing out of compliance, and there were no formal complaints against the facility at that time.
