Small Plane Goes Down West Of Lake Elsinore In Cleveland National Forest

The emergency was reported at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday near the Ortega Oaks Campground on Highway 74 in El Cariso.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A small aircraft went down Tuesday afternoon just west of Lake Elsinore, but the pilot was unhurt, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The emergency was reported at 3:05 p.m. near the Ortega Oaks Campground on Highway 74 in El Cariso.

When the fire department arrived at the scene, crews reported a small aircraft down with the solo occupant reporting no injuries.

In addition to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, Orange County Fire Authority, Cleveland National Forest, Riverside County Sheriff's Department, and the California Highway Patrol all had resources responding, but they were cancelled.

The aircraft sustained a small fuel leak, but county fire crews mitigated it.
