Murrieta Fire's Citizens' Academy Is Accepting Applications
Learn how to perform emergency medical services, take fire station tours and more at the academny, which is open to everyone.
MURRIETA, CA — Have you ever wanted to learn how your local firefighters respond during an emergency? Interested residents are encouraged to sign up for the upcoming Murrieta Fire's Citizens' Academy session.
Applications are now open for the April 23 to May 28 academy program, which is an interactive course designed to teach residents a working knowledge of their local fire department.
Murrieta Fire and Rescue will lead participants through activities and hands-on drills both in a classroom environment and in the field.

While the course is open to everyone over 18 years old, officials advise that some activities could be physically taxing. The course is also not a recruitment program for professional firefighting.
"While you'll gain valuable insights into our department, it's primarily an educational experience," according to the department.

Attendance each Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. is mandatory, the agency said, urging those who cannot commit during this time to consider the next academy session. Sign up for the session here.
