Murrieta Mesa Grad Becomes Kansas City Chiefs Cheerleader: Report

The Riverside County dancer was able to achieve her longtime dream of making an NFL cheer team.

MURRIETA, CA — A Murrieta Mesa High School graduate has achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a professional National Football League cheerleader.

Carissa Hobbs, who graduated from high school in Murrieta in 2020 and just recently graduated from Cal State Fullerton, made it onto the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs cheer team, as first reported by Valley News.

Under the rank "field rookie," the Chiefs Cheerleaders have a long legacy on professional football fields. Once known as the chiefettes, the high-kicking dance team was formed in the 1960s.

Though Hobbs left her university with a degree in Child and Adolescent Development, she's widely known as a dancer.

The Downey Dance Center congratulated Hobbs for her accomplishment.

"We know this was a dream of hers and she worked so hard to accomplish her goal!" the Center wrote in an Instagram post. "Carissa shines so bright here at DDC and we know she will carry that same light on the field!"
