Murrieta Mom, School Librarian 'Ms. T' Has Changed Thousands Of Lives

MURRIETA, CA— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

This submission comes from Megan Reed who nominated Lee Titford of Murrieta.

What makes your Mom extra special?

My mom is a fixture of the community. She is the elementary school librarian at Avaxat Elementary on Las Brisas and has been since 1989 (just after the school opened). She is kind and caring and all of the students absolutely love "Ms. T" as they all so lovingly call her. She has always volunteered to watch the playground in the morning so kids can play before class. Her lunch is in her library everyday with lots of kids helping out. Every summer, she painstakingly makes a class schedule so that each kid gets to come to the library each week. She reads to the younger grades before they get to check out books. After I struggled with the LSAT's logic games she incorporated logic puzzles into her routine with the older grades. She always looks out for the kids who are picked on, or a little shy. In her nearly 35 years at Avaxat she has changed thousands of lives. Former students often reach out to her to tell her what a great impact she had on their lives.

She gets up everyday around 5:30 to have coffee on the back porch with her cat Rocko. Rocko was abandoned by a neighbor and adopted her a few years ago. She grows the most beautiful sunflowers and delicious tomatoes.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

She deserves the spotlight because she's been a pillar of the Murrieta community for more than 3 decades.
