One Person Killed, One Injured In Crash On 215 In Riverside

The person was pronounced dead at the scene of the Monday morning wreck, officials said.

RIVERSIDE, CA — One person was killed Monday and another was injured when a compact sedan and a pickup truck collided on the Escondido (215) Freeway in Riverside, authorities said. The crash was reported at 2:53 a.m. on the southbound Escondido Freeway north of Central Avenue, Riverside Fire Department Battalion Chief Todd Gooch said.

The compact sedan had major damage and its driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Gooch said.

The pickup truck was on its side and its driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, he said.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert at 2:59 a.m. shutting down the southbound Escondido Freeway in the crash area and shutting down the Martin Luther King Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound 215 for the crash investigation and clean-up.
