Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Hemet Hit-And-Run

HEMET, CA — A pedestrian was seriously injured Wednesday when he was struck by a driver who fled on the east end of Hemet.

The hit-and-run happened about 3:40 a.m. in the 600 block of North State Street, near Oakland Avenue, according to the Hemet Police Department.

The agency said that the victim, whose identity was not released, was walking in the southbound No. 2 lane of State when a vehicle approached at an unknown speed, plowing into him.

The driver immediately fled the location.

Witnesses encountered the victim lying in the roadway and called 911.

The man was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment of major life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Officers canvassed the area for evidence, including possible videotape from security surveillance cameras mounted on homes and businesses. It was unclear whether any images were obtained that might further the investigation.
