PERRIS, CA — On a national day of protest Monday, a gathering of about 500 people in Perris turned unlawful as a small group threw rocks at officers, Riverside County Sheriff's Department stated.

A total of six individuals were arrested during the protests: four for obstruction and failure to disperse and two for assault with a deadly weapon, according to Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez.

On February 3, 2025, at approximately 9 a.m., protesters opposing United States immigration policies gathered at several intersections along Perris Boulevard in the city of Perris. Throughout the day, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers, monitored the protests to ensure the community's safety.

At approximately 6 p.m., "some individuals began throwing rocks and bottles at deputies. At that point, the assembly was declared unlawful, and the crowd was instructed to disperse," said Brito-Gonzalez.

"Deputies and CHP officers successfully cleared all protesters from the area without any reported injuries," she said. "While the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office firmly supports the right to peaceful protest, criminal activity is never condoned."
