Southbound I-215 Reopens After Trash Truck Crash
The crash was reported at 12:04 p.m. just south of McCall Boulevard.

MENIFEE, CA — A trash truck crash on Interstate 215 in Menifee caused an apparent natural gas leak Thursday and a full shutdown of all southbound freeway lanes.
The crash was reported at 12:04 p.m. just south of McCall Boulevard.
The truck, reportedly a CR&R vehicle, went over the side of the freeway and was thought to be leaking natural gas. No other vehicles were involved.

The CHP issued a request for a full southbound freeway shutdown and closure of the McCall off-ramp.
After investigation, it was determined the truck was not leaking natural gas.

A tow truck was needed, however, to upright the crashed rig, according to CHP Officer Mike Lassig.
At 1:45 p.m., southbound lanes and the off-ramp reopened.
There were no reports of injuries.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
