MURRIETA, CA — Five cars were towed and six citations were issued in a court sting operation at the Southwest Justice Center, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced Saturday.

The operation was conducted on Friday between 7 a.m. and noon to identify individuals who are currently unlicensed or whose privileges were suspended or revoked.

During the sting, plain-clothes deputies watched individuals leave the courtroom and make the choice to get behind the wheel and drive, according to the sheriff's department.

Uniformed deputies subsequently conducted traffic enforcement stops and confirmed the individuals did not have valid licenses to operate a motor vehicle.

As a result of the operation, five vehicles were towed and six citations were issued.

The Southwest Station Traffic Team reminded the public not to operate a motor vehicle unless properly licensed with a valid registration and insurance.
