1 Dead, 4 Hurt In Newark Weekend Crash
The 3-vehicle wreck happened on Cherry Street near Mowry Avenue
NEWARK, CA — One person was killed and at least one other injured in a three-vehicle crash on Cherry Street near Mowry Avenue in Newark early Saturday, police said.
The driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene and another driver was taken to the hospital with injuries police described as major but not life-threatening, police said. The crash happened around 2:30 a.m., according to police.
The third driver and passengers were taken to the hospital for observation, police said. All told, five people were drivers or passengers in the crash, according to police.

"At this time, it is believed that speed and alcohol are factors in this incident, however the collision remains under investigation," police said in a statement.
This is the second fatal traffic collision in Newark in 2022.
