ACC Grass Roots Cribbage Club Tournament #34 Summary
Results of the 9-game, round-robin weekly tournament.

There were 10 players this week, decreasing the players per tournament average to 11.824 (–0.055). Once again, 50% of the players in attendance earned GRPs. Wayne Morris continued his dominant ways by losing only 2 games for a 14/7 first place finish. Theo Mattingly secured second place with a 13/6/89 scorecard, while Carol Witt’s 13/6/17 scorecard took third place. Winning her first three games by skunks (avg. of 39 pegs), Judy Ross finished in fourth place with a 13/5 and Rich Hammock earned GRPs with a 12/5 scorecard for fifth place. With a 9/4 scorecard, Lorren Lookabill was a skunk away from adding to his GRP total (and keeping the club lead).
Although Theo Mattingly and Tracy Yott held the high hand lead with 20- point hands through 6 games, Carol Witt was gifted a favorable cut for a 22-point hand in the latter games. Tracy Yott did have a chance at a 29- pointer, but it stayed a 14-pointer because he couldn’t cut the 5 of clubs or any face card.
There is a new GRP club leader in town. With a 63.5% win rate in the fourth quarter, earning 70 GRPs in five of the last seven tournaments and earning 24 GRPs in the GRNT (Grass Roots National Tournament), Wayne Morris has taken the club GRP top position from Loren Lookabill by six GRPs. Theo Mattingly is only three behind Loren (nine behind Wayne) and is right where he wants to be according to his plan. Carol Witt has stayed true to her goal of GRPs every remaining tournament, but she is 27 GRPs behind Wayne with two tournaments remaining. Farokh Ziari needs 30 GRPs and everyone in front of him to not score just to tie Wayne for the current lead.
