BART Track Closure Planned This Weekend

NEWARK, CA — Do your weekend plans include using BART to get to a destination? You may need to add extra time to your travel schedule is you are heading north from Newark.

BART is planning to shut down the tracks between the Union City and South Hayward stations. A free bus bridge will be provided.

According to a communication from BART, "A large construction project is now underway in southern Alameda County. Crews are replacing critical trackway components between the South Hayward and Union City BART stations as well as advancing preliminary work to create a new storage facility at the Hayward Maintenance Complex for hundreds of Fleet of the Future cars."

This weekend's track closure will be the first of 10 scheduled for this year.
