Newark-Based Lucid Announces Details About Air Dream Edition Cars
The electric vehicles will come in two versions, one recently proved capable of going 500 miles on a single charge in a Motor Trend test.

NEWARK, CA —Lucid Group, the luxury electric car company headquartered in Newark, on Wednesday announced that its limited-run Lucid Air Dream Edition cars -which sell $169,000 fully equipped- will be produced in two distinct versions: Dream Edition Performance and Dream Edition Range.
According to a release, the Dream Edition Performance will feature a powertrain optimized for speed and acceleration, with 1,111 horsepower.
The Dream Edition Range, meanwhile, will deliver 933 horsepower, while maximizing range. The company said the EPA range certification remains in process and will be announced for each version when complete. However, Lucid recently completed a real-world evaluation drive with Motor Trend.

During the drive, a pair of Dream Edition Range cars drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco - at highway speeds via central California - and then back across the San Francisco Bay to Lucid's global headquarters in Newark, traveling 445 miles on a single charge. Upon arrival in Newark, the cars displayed, respectively, 30 miles and 72 miles of charge remaining. That meant they were capable of driving 475 miles and 517 miles, respectively, on a single charge.
