Mingala, which offers great food and service, was the only Newark restaurant named to the list.

NEWARK, CA — The San Francisco Chronicle has named a Newark Restaurant to it's list of best Burmese Restaurants in The Bay Area.

Mingala, at 39055 Cedar Boulevard, #108 in Newark, features indoor seating, takeout and delivery, along with "swagger" and a "commitment to funk", according to the San Francisco Chronicle article.

The restaurant's tea leaf salad was just one of many reasons the popular eatery was named to the list, the article said.

"What really sticks out about the restaurant’s cooking is its commitment to funk, something akin to a Thundercat bass riff," the review said. "That’s best seen in the tea leaf salad ($13.99), which is littered with a merry band of nuts, seeds, fried beans and Thai chiles."

Mingala's tea leaf salad comes with lime "for a crucial hit of acid that extends brightness to the floral fermented tea leaves."

Other must trys, according to the review, are the folded roti paratha ($5.99) and the beef rendang ($20), "which comes with a luxurious coconut sauce that has the consistency of a rich gravy."
