Newark Man ID'd As Crash Victim

A previous report stated that the man killed in Newark last weekend was a Fremont resident, but the coroner said he lived in Newark.

NEWARK, CA — The Alameda County coroner's bureau has released the name and hometown of a man killed in a crash in Newark last weekend. He was Juan Antonio Gonzalez-Ramirez, 22, of Newark.

A report earlier this week said he was a Fremont resident.

Gonzalez-Ramirez was a passenger in a vehicle that hit a parked car at 11:20 p.m. on St. Isabel Avenue near Cedar Boulevard.

The driver and two other passengers sustained minor injuries.

The driver, identified by Bay City News as Salvador Silva-Ramierz of Newark, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
