• Ohlone College partners with County on flood control (tricityvoice.com) — A major flood-control upgrade along New Ohlone Creek is now providing stronger protection for Newark and the wider Tri-City area by replacing a failing 1950s channel with a more natural, terraced floodplain. Ohlone College partnered with Alameda County Flood Control to remove contaminated soil, restore wetlands, and create future hands-on environmental learning opportunities for students on its Newark-adjacent land. 
• UCSF Washington Cancer Center shares expansion update (tricityvoice.com) — A new UCSF–Washington Cancer Center, supported by regional leaders including Newark’s mayor, is expanding access to advanced cancer care just minutes from many local homes. The center offers a calming, nature-inspired environment and cutting-edge treatments like immunotherapy, allowing East Bay patients to receive world-class oncology care close to home instead of traveling to San Francisco.
• Symphony gifts kids in care of UCSF Children's Hospital with 'magic of music' (mercedsunstar.com) — A Newark family was among hundreds of UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital patients and relatives treated to a special San Francisco Symphony youth orchestra rehearsal and holiday sing-along at Davies Symphony Hall. The free event, designed for recently discharged kids with serious medical histories, offered safe seating, hands-on instrument experiences, and a joyful way to celebrate recovery together.
