
Newark police are investigating a solo vehicle crash that killed a 51-year-old man Friday night. The crash was reported around 9:45 p.m. after a 1995 Jeep sport utility vehicle collided head on with a tree near the intersection of Newark Boulevard and Dairy Avenue, according to police.
Alameda County firefighters were able to extricate the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 51-year-old man, but he died of his injuries at the hospital a short time later. The collision is under investigation.
The victim's identity has not been released, pending notification of next of kin, police said Saturday afternoon. Anyone with information on this collision is asked to call police at (510) 578-4237.
