As we look ahead to November’s general election, Newport Beach-Corona del Mar Patch is devoted to bringing you the information you need about every race in town. Here’s our start on the candidates and issues we'll be covering as November draws near.
President Barack Obama in the run-up to the election. Republican candidate Mitt Romney also came to town drawing to Pacific Coast Highway.
The Newport Beach City Council will have three open seats in November for Districts 2, 5 & 7. The seat belonging to Councilman Steve Rosansky will be up for grabs this election cycle as he is termed out.

At the state level, (R-Costa Mesa) will face off against in the 74th Assembly District Race. Mansoor told Patch, "It's looking good for us so far. If things go as we plan, I'll continue my open-door policy and work on pension reform and get back to good government."
Sen. Mimi Walters will take on attorney Steve Young in another matchup for the 37th Senate District.
