Burglar Breaks into Home While Resident is Upstairs

A home was burglarized while the resident was home last week, Newport Beach police reported.

The burglary took place between Thursday, Aug. 23 at 11 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 24 at 1 a.m. at a home in the 300 block of Walnut Avenue. Police said the suspect removed a window screen from an opened window on the bottom floor, and went into the home while one of the resident's was home.

A laptop, cell phone, guitar and money were stolen from the home. Police said the resident was awake, but did know the burglar was inside.
