Car Whizzes Down Taxiway At John Wayne Airport
The contract security guard was "experiencing a possible medical emergency" when he drove a white sedan on the airport's taxiway.
SANTA ANA, CA — An investigation was continuing Wednesday into a viral video that showed a John Wayne Airport contract security guard driving a white sedan on the airport's taxiway, speeding past a series of planes.
No injuries were reported from the incident, which happened around 1:15 p.m. Monday at the Orange County airport, according to multiple reports.
According to NBC LA, cell phone video taken by an airport employee on the taxiway shows the white Toyota Camry speeding down the taxiway with several aircraft moving nearby.

The man behind the wheel was taken into custody by responding sheriff's deputies. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation, and it was not immediately known if he was arrested.
Airport officials said in a statement the driver was a contract security guard who was "experiencing a possible medical emergency."

"Me and all my co-workers were just like yelling, giving him the X, holding the [traffic] wands, telling him to stop the plane, and then he zoomed right past," Rijken Vanderweide, who recorded the video, told ABC7. "Honestly, if we didn't tell that plane to stop, he came really close, and if no one noticed or stopped... he probably would've collided with that nose gear and possible collapsed that front end of the plane."
