Homeless Encampment Cleared In Newport Beach: Report

County and federal officials cleared a homeless encampment in Newport Beach Wednesday.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — County and federal officials cleared a homeless encampment along the Santa Ana River March in Newport Beach on Wednesday, The Orange County Register reported.

The effort was led by OC Public Works, the OC Sheriff's Department and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, who led the first county cleanup effort since its anti-camping ordinance went into effect last month.

According to the report, the new policy enables law enforcement to arrest and fine individuals camping on county properties, including flood district channels.
