Cop Calls: Burglars Target CDM Homes and Garages
In one case, an unknown suspect snuck into a garage while the homeowner went inside for a drink of water.

Newport Beach police say burglars targeted homes and garages in the Corona del Mar neighborhood this week.
- Today around 7:20 a.m., an unknown suspect entered a locked garage in the 400 block of Mendoza. Police say it is unknown how the suspect got inside. The victim reported a stolen cell phone.
- On Wedensday around 4:40 p.m., an unknown suspect targeted a home in the 600 block of Narcissus Avenue. Police say while the victim was loading his vehicle, he went inside for a moment to get a drink of water. When he returned, he discovered an unknown suspect had entered his open garage and took a remote control car, duffel bag and locker containing remote control car parts.
- On Tuesday between 11:30 a.m. and 12:50 p.m., an unknown suspect entered a home in the 2800 block of Harbor View. Police say the suspect entered the victim's home by smashing in a glass French door while it was tented for fumigation.
- On Monday between 5:10 p.m. and 6:55 a.m. Tuesday, an uknown suspect targeted a home under construction in the 1200 block of Seacrest. Police say the suspect cut a lock which secured a gate. Once inside the gate, the suspect attempted to defeat a dead bolt lock on the rear garage door but did not get in.
